An Enlightening Weekend Seminar with Doug Stowe

On June 1st, 2nd and 3rd, renowned woodworker Doug Stowe, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas gave a box-making seminar to 22 attendees at the workshop of SFWG member, Way Hoyt in Oakland Park. Stowe demonstrated many aspects of creating a box by actually creating a box of sapodilla with ebony "keys" and frontispiece. The piece had a floating lid and bottom to accommodate wood movement, due to humidity and climate changes. Stowe also emphasized the philosophy of wood and it's relationship to nature and the woodworker.
